Development Chemist
Nikwax Ltd is a successful privately owned manufacturing company located in an area of outstanding natural beauty in the South of England, within one hour of central London.
The business develops, produces and markets specialist waterproof products and processes and sells into the Outdoor Industry world-wide. It has achieved 4 Queen’s Awards for industry, including the QA for Sustainable Development in 2014.
The Role
The role requires you to carry out innovative development work, from creation of new products through to
re-formulation of existing products. You will be involved with the products from conception through to manufacture, allowing you to see your work have real impact. You will be involved in creating and sustaining development projects and have key influence when designing and prioritising benefits and features of new or updated products.
You will need to thoroughly understand the manufacturing process engaged in by Nikwax, both in terms of mechanism and purpose, to enable you to offer technical support to the manufacturing team. You may also provide support to sales and customer services with novel or previously undocumented queries. You must also maintain a high standard of good lab practice and ensure accurate recording of reliable data.
The Person
The successful candidate will be systematic and imaginative with an ability to problem solve. You will be an enthusiastic self starter and a good communicator. The successful candidate will need their own transport, owing to our rural location.
You will have a Chemistry degree (or related subject) and industrial laboratory experience.
