The Saga Way…… At Saga we exist to make the lives of retired people better; where we see the world through our customer’s eyes, so we can exceed their expectations; where nothing is too much trouble for our customers; where we trust and challenge each other to be brave and do the right thing and where we are ‘One Saga’.
As our business moves into a new and re-energised future of growth there is a real opportunity for great people to play a significant role as part of one the UKs most iconic and trusted brands.
The operations manager is a new role within Saga and has been created in response to the growing requirements of system management and operational ownership that a FSTE250 organisation of Saga’s standing demands. The role will be working alongside an experienced IT management team and will be responsible for the monitoring, management and operational responsibilities across a technically diverse architecture supporting corporate services, e-commerce, contact centres and end user systems.
The successful role holder will be key member of the management team and will be expected to help shape the existing IT resources creating a world class SOC (Systems Operation Centre) that meets the needs of the existing business but also supports and actively drives the required changes needed in the IT operational space.
The role holder will be expected to quickly build strong working relationships with both the individual IT teams within IT operations/Infrastructure, but also the wider development teams to develop a detailed understanding of the systems in place and the requirements to support and maintain these in a production environment.
The role will have direct line management for a team of 8 engineers where they will be expected to manage their teams in line with the Saga ethos installing the pillars of the Saga Way. Their primary challenge will be to quickly implement a team responsible for the 24/7 management of the existing production estate including responsibilities for system patching and maintenance, backup/event management, release and deployment support, Incident support, capacity management and system availability.
The role will suit an individual with strong demonstrable experience obtained in a similar role responsible for mission critical system support in a large and diverse high value organisation.
So, we’ve sparked your interest….now what’s in it for you?
We’re offering an excellent salary package, plus a wide range of excellent benefits, including private healthcare, pension scheme, on site nursery, social club and discounts on holidays and insurance products.
