We are looking for a Night Buyer to join our Procurement team. This is a key role which ensures supply, cost and quality of products to our customers.
The Night Buyer is responsible for the purchasing of food products on a daily basis, ensuring the price is consistent with business requirements and driving savings through negotiation. If you are looking to join a fast paced and growing business, this could be a great opportunity for you.
Watts Farms is a family run business which covers 10 sites in Kent, Essex and Bedfordshire with more than 350 employees. This role is based within the Food Service division of the business, which supplies over 500 restaurants with produce in the South East and London region.
The successful candidate will start work from our Dartford site and work at New Covent Garden Market.
The key responsibilities of the role will include but not be limited to the following:
• Purchase products in sufficient quantity, of suitable quality (including shelf life) and at an agreed price.
• Ensure all purchasing records are accurate and complete, including goods receipts, traceability and quality assessment records.
• Quality check all products bought in the Market and complete daily reporting to include the monitoring of shelf-life.
• Effectively communicate with current and potential suppliers to negotiate prices.
• Stack, load/unload and wrap pallet products using a forklift and/or pump truck.
• Other duties as instructed by the Night Market Manager.
What are we looking for?
• Full UK Driving License.
• Forklift license would be desirable but not essential as training could be provided.
• Any previous experience with fresh produce, wholesale supply or procurement would be useful.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proactive with ability to determine priorities.
• Flexible and adaptable in approach to work with the ability to multi-task.
• Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Hours:
5 night per week, Sunday to Friday working on a rota. Working hours are 9.30pm – 5am. Flexibility will be required to cover holidays and sickness.
What can we offer you:
• £18,000 - 20,000 per annum dependent on experience.
