PowaKaddy International, the Sittingbourne based brand leader of premium Electric Golf Trolleys, is looking for a Graduate Development Engineer to join the Engineering Team. The individual would have studied mechanical engineering, product design or mechanical design. The candidate will be a graduate with at least 1 year’s experience working in manufacturing either as part of their sandwich course or as a post graduate.
As part of the New Product Development team you will be involved in all aspects of product development from concept to production; reporting to the Engineering Manager. This role requires a creative thinking ‘hands on’ engineer/designer that can work in different roles in this small but vibrant design team. Tasks will include, but not limited to:
• Conceptual development of new components (3D/2D) using Solidworks to create individual parts and assemblies using best engineering practices.
• Produce specification drawings for components / assemblies applying GDT.
• Communicating product changes to suppliers and manufacturing team.
• Presenting product developments / projects to Board, sales team.
• Work on graphics, rendering and video content for new products.
• Sample and test new product developments using range of test apparatus and procedures.
• Work with production team to resolve technical or quality issues, assembly instructions, maintaining jigs and fixtures and resolve production/assembly issues.
• Support quality team in identifying and resolving quality issues to feedback to suppliers.
• Engineering admin, including use of document control systems, BOMs, drawing specifications, engineering change notes, etc.
Candidate Requirements:
• The candidate must have achieved a minimum 2:2 classification in mechanical engineering, Product design or similar engineering design degree will be considered.
• The role requires a good creative ‘hands on’ engineer that can quickly and efficiently develop designs from concept through to production.
• Candidates should have an understanding of plastic injection moulding, and design for manufacture.
• Basic knowledge of electronics would be an advantage.
• Experience at 2D drawing / 3D modelling preferably with Solidworks, but other packages would be considered.
• The candidate must be able to work alone, a confident communicator, be enthusiastic, self-motivated and keen to learn!
• Experience with MS Office, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Keyshot 5+ or other rendering package for communicating ideas and designs to team would be advantageous.
• A Golfer would be an advantage to this role but certainly not essential.
