Application Owner (COTS/SAAS)

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Application Owner for Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) and Software as a Service (SaaS) technology applications, to join the Application Development & Maintenance (ADM) Department of major financial services provider, an employee and customer centric organisation housing some of the UK`s best loved brands.

oResponsibilities:

Manage and maintain overall technical solutions integrity of the application
- Including integration with other applications and the supporting infrastructure
- Define platform level technical standards

Develop and promote deep technical expertise, insights and thought leadership related to the application
- Maintain subject matter expertise of the external market and emerging technology trends.
- Exploit supplier`s knowledge and insights and influence supplier roadmaps
- Develop own external / internal network to gather intelligence and promote.

Coordinate, guide and support the planning and delivery of changes to the application
- Assess the impact of proposed solution architecture on the application.
- Identify and assess technology solution options and associated costs.
- Quality assure requirements, impact assessments, design specifications, resource estimates
- Support business case production & Validate and challenge 3rd party estimates
- Review and signoff on outcome of detailed design phase
- Plan for and ensure successful delivery of multiple / concurrent changes.
- Shape and challenge the delivery approach to maximise value
- Own and prioritise the backlog of changes to the platform

Develop and implement an assurance approach which provides confidence to stakeholders and ensures that the value of changes will be achieved
- Oversee technical implementation and support third party suppliers to ensure the development is within the agreed SLA`s.
- Acts as escalation point for technical design issues.

Maximise the value of the application
- Develop trusted working relationships with 3rd party supplier`s and application vendors.
- Identify opportunities to reduce total cost of ownership and improve platform performance.
- Improve processes and ways of working to increase the efficiency and effectiveness.
- Analyse vendor application roadmaps and end of life cycles; assess impact and recommend actions
- Plan and implement decommissioning / retirement of applications

Collaborate with Application Maintenance to deliver effective day to day application support and maximise the value of Application Maintenance to the Application Development team
- Minimise the amount and impact of unplanned change on AD, ensuring the focus remains on Application Development
- Ensure application performance / health is maximised
- Ensure there is effective knowledge retention of technical aspects of the platform and that there are no single points of failure
- Ensure knowledge artefacts are shared with and maintained by 3rd party suppliers

Provide input to contract negotiations and contract management with respect to technical assurance and project and change activities.

Requirements:

Extensive experience of working as an Application owner within an enterprise scale environment

Must have experience of COTS / SAAS technology applications

Ability to lead suppliers, and drive efficiencies whilst owning a platform technically

Ability to interact with senior stakeholder with a FTSE organisation

Experience of a full development lifecycle

Previously worked in a mixed internal / outsourced model.
