We are recruiting for a Payroll Assistant to support the Payroll Manager of a large organisation, on a temporary basis for circa 3 months.
Duties include:
*Weekly payroll - circa 500 staff
*Monthly payroll - circa 600 staff
*Update, calculate and process records - new starters, leavers, tax, national insurance, pension, statutory and occupational sickness, family leave provision, voluntary deductions, variable payments allowance, expenses, student loans, tax credits, court orders and child care vouchers.
*Provide management reports and other ad hoc information to both internal and external customers, including finance and pension providers.
*Data analysis
*Perform manual payroll calculations as required
*Liaise with external agencies, including HMRC, DWP and pension providers
*Respond to manager and employee payroll related queries, in writing and verbally, ensuring prompt and accurate resolution.
*Prepare and calculate CHAPS and BACS payments
*Maintain an up-to-date knowledge and implement relevant terms and conditions of employment, procedural, statutory and legislative changes, as directed by Payroll Manager to ensure business needs are met and statutory and legal duties are fully compliant..
*Updating manual and computerised systems
It is essential that you have previous payroll experience, with the ability to work out manual payroll calculations. You will have used a computerised payroll system, for example Sage, and have proven knowledge of HMRC legislation, e.g. Tax, NI rates and statutory payments and able to perform manual calculations. A payroll qualification would be an advantage.
