Main Duties
Are you passionate about keeping our district safe? Do you like helping your local community? We’re looking for someone that’s great with people, has strong decision making skills and is happy using their own initiative to join our Enforcement team. You’ll enjoy being part of a fantastic team responsible for enforcement across areas such as parking and traffic, anti-social behaviour and litter. The majority of your time will be spent out and about, offering support and advice to local residents and visitors. With the wide range of activities you’ll get involved in, you’ll never be bored!
Essential Requirements
Knowledge
To have a working knowledge of using IT systems such as outlook, word and excel.
An awareness of parking restrictions is highly desirable along with knowledge of key legislation (Traffic Management Act, Cleaner Neighbourhoods Act, Licensing Act).
Skills
The ability to remain calm in difficult situations is essential together with the ability to work in all weathers out of doors.
Ability to deal with customers who present with an issue in an effective and constructive manner.
Is aware of the range of customer needs and how these can be met.
Makes decisions involving facts or situations, some of which require analysis.
Experience
Experience of team working and ability to work unsupervised is essential together with good customer care skills.
Licensing and enforcement role experience is highly desirable.
Works with relative autonomy and monitors own performance.
Works with others in a team to provide support. Post holder may occasionally be required to demonstrate duties or advise others who are new in post.
Qualifications
Good standard of fitness with good non-colour blind vision (to note the colour of vehicles when issuing PCNs).
A full driving licence is essential.
3 GCSEs or equivalent at grade C or above including English.
You will be subject to a DBS check and a Licensing Accreditation with the Institute of innkeepers.
Level 2 Parking Enforcement Officer with City and Guilds and CSAS accreditation is desirable.
