Eurotunnel manages, maintains and operates the Channel Tunnel from Folkestone to Coquelles in France. The service provided is unrivalled in terms of speed, ease, and reliability, and is the most environmentally friendly way to cross the Channel.
The tunnel infrastructure enables our shuttle trains to carry passenger and commercial freight vehicles and also allows the running of 3rd party passenger and freight trains. In an all time record breaking 2016, Eurotunnel shuttle trains carried over 1.6 million trucks, and 2.6 million passenger vehicles and facilitated the transportation of just over 1m tonnes of freight and some 10m Eurostar passengers. The value of trade passing between the UK and continental Europe through the Tunnel is in excess of £91bn, equivalent to 25% of all trade in and out of the UK.
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Technician to join our Works Train department. Working at our terminal in Folkestone you will provide technical and logistical support to the Works Train team. Your activities will include investigation cause analysis, developing and management of railway compliant engineering solutions and leading on internal projects.
This position plays a key role in ensuring equipment is safe and compliant with railway procedures and legislation. It also ensures the continual development of the Works Train team to guarantee service quality and standards.
You will ideally hold a technical degree or be qualified to HND or equivalent in mechanical or electrical engineering. Health & Safety certification, such as NEBOSH or IOSH is required. This position requires the individual to have a minimum of 5 years previous experience of working in an electrical or mechanical environment and extensive knowledge of electro/mechanical equipment. Experience of working with rolling stock or industrial road or rail plant would be an advantage, as would be proficiency in project management and developing competencies within a team.
The Senior Technician works day shifts, Monday to Friday, but is required to work occasional unsocial hours to meet the business need. Participation in an on call roster is also required.
This position will interest you if you are passionate about working in a team committed to using their engineering experience to resolve technical problems to deliver a high quality of service for our customers.
In return for your contribution you will receive an attractive benefits package, including:
