Senior Technical Project Manager/Programme Manager

Our client, a software house, requires a Senior Project/ Programme Manager. The role is a new position within the company and the Chief Operating Officer requires an experienced individual who can clearly demonstrate experience in running & delivering multi-stream projects/programmes with a disciplined but pragmatic approach.
The candidate’s core responsibilities will be three-fold:
1. The establishment of the Project and Programme Management function
a. Methodology - including all associated documentation
b. Governance
c. Policies & Procedures
d. Resource requirements
2. Initiation, planning and delivery of key client and business projects taking full responsibility for defining and planning the initial stages of each project including, but not restricted to:
a. Leading the drafting, review and sign-off of all project management artefacts including PIDs, SOW, plans, RAIDs and budgets
b. Own the overall programme budget, challenging and agreeing workstream costs
c. Manage the preparation, reporting and achievement of Programme Milestones
d. Manage all aspects of project governance & reporting
e. Prepare Executive and Board Papers
3. Monitoring performance of all Projects in the portfolio to ensure compliance with agreed methodology, effective planning and risk and issue management, quality standards and funding approval governance.
4. Ensuring that projects are formally closed, that lessons learned are captured, follow up actions are assigned and that benefits realisation planning has been initiated.
Additionally, the role will also provide support where required to other companies within the group.
Some international travel may be required (anticipated to be restricted to the EMEA region).
Working Conditions
37.5 hours per week to cover the hours of 09.00 - 17.30 Monday to Friday - and flexibility relating to hours and days worked will be needed in order to meet the needs of the business at any time.
Experience
Essential
Minimum of five years proven senior project/ programme manager experience in:
·Delivery of significant/ complex projects/programmes
·Establishment of Project/Programme management governance structures, policies, procedures, etc.
·Planning, Cost management and Reporting to a high standard
·Senior stakeholder management and collaborative working
Key attributes:
·Self-motivated and capable of self-directed working
· Highly analytical and logical approach to work
·Effective communication and presentation skills and comfortable working across all levels of the business
· Ability to plan & prioritise workload, ensuring deadlines are met and respond quickly to changing priorities
·Ability to maintain good working relationships, both internally & externally and deliver through others
· Ability to work in a structured manner whilst also retaining flexibility to changing programme requirements
·Experience in working with both technical / operations teams across multiple locations
Desirable
· Experience of the payments industry
Level of Education/Attainments
Essential
· Degree level education to 2:1 or above or equivalent
· Prince 2 Practitioner
Desirable
· Knowledge of the Software Delivery Lifecycle including Agile
· Experience of working in an ITIL© environment
