Connect2Kent are seeking a temporary Safety Auditor to join our public sector client based in Ashford. This is a temporary post that will last initially for 6 months.

Job Outline:

To work as part of a cross cutting team to investigate, design and deliver highway improvement schemes particularly Casualty Reduction Measures, Member Highway Fund, Developer funded schemes and Integrated Transport schemes.

1. The post holder will be fully conversant with the National and County Council's Codes of Practice and Standards on traffic/safety scheme delivery ie Traffic Calming/Member Highway Fund etc.

2. Safety Engineers will concentrate on schemes which deliver highway casualty reduction measures through interrogation of the County Council's crash data base.

3. Working closely with Elected Members and other key stakeholders to identify appropriate traffic schemes which meet the County Council's policies.

4. Preparation of Health and Safety Plans and risk assessments, and ensuring that all works on site are carried out in a safe manner and in accordance with Health & Safety policies and good practice.

5. Undertake meaningful and timely consultation on schemes to ensure community buy in.

6. Undertake safety audits to ensure schemes as designed and built are safe.

7. Manage associated Traffic Regulation Orders as part of scheme delivery

Qualifications and Experience required.

*HND/HNC/BTEC Higher in engineering/transport or related subject.
*Student or associated membership of relevant professional body.
*3 years post qualifying experience, and the use of relevant computer applications
*Some experience of target costing and asset management techniques.
*Good knowledge of national and local standards, and techniques and technical procedures.
*Working knowledge of CDM regulations and risk assessments.
*KCC/National Codes of Practice on Traffic Schemes
