Howletts & Port Lympne Wild Animal Parks, in conjunction with the Aspinall Foundation, are a charity based organisation committed to protecting rare and endangered animals from extinction through captive breeding and reintroduction programs.

We are currently seeking two self‐motivated, enthusiastic and confident individuals to help undertake our educational commitments. This full‐time 6 month seasonal position is 40 hours a week (8am – 5pm) including all weekends and public holidays from March to September 2017. One post will be based at Port Lympne Reserve and one at Howletts Wild Animal Park.

The seasonal education officer will present scheduled educational talks to our visitors, as well as writing and presenting educational talks to school and bespoke groups. You will provide guided tours with small groups, help to run our Junior Ranger and Keeper Academy sessions, and to create relevant education activities linked to our themed events and attend trade fairs. You will be working alongside our permanent Education Officers and helping to supervise a small team of volunteers.

A good knowledge of exotic wildlife and global animal conservation issues is a prerequisite. An ability to communicate this knowledge to both the general public and more informed audiences is essential. The ideal candidate will have previous experience of teaching or working in an educator’s role, as experience in presenting talks to the public is required. An interest in palaeontology is desirable for assistance in the Dinosaur Forest at Port Lympne.

We are looking for a proactive, organised self‐motivated person with good proven people skills who is a confident and accomplished public speaker. Please specify which Animal Park (Port Lympne or Howletts) you are applying for in your application.

Closing Date: Friday 3rd February 2017

All applicants must have the right to work in the UK.

To apply: Please email a CV along with a covering email.

Or post to: Human Resources, Port Lympne Reserve, Lympne, Kent, CT21 4PD.
