The Port of Dover is Europe’s busiest ferry port and a vital international gateway for the movement of passengers and trade. Other services include a cargo terminal and an award-winning marina.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Safety Assistant to work with our Safety team, providing timely advice and solutions on safety issues associated with port operations and developments. In this role you will:

• Monitor all safety occurrences and prepare monthly statistical reports
• Organise and carry out safety inspections and safety tours
• Assist in developing safety procedures and guidance
• Assist in the investigation of accidents and incidents as required
• Assist in the development and delivery of safety training and initiatives to improve safety
• Undertake audits of the organisation, its partners, tenants and contractors

Requirements for this role are:
• Good knowledge of safety legislation
• NEBOSH General Certificate in Safety or be working towards it
• Experience of carrying out safety site inspections, preferably gained in a fast moving works environment.
• An understanding of investigation techniques
• Good report writing skills
• Computer literate
• Confident in delivering training courses/presentations

The ideal candidate will also have:
• Tech IOSH or working towards Grad IOSH
• Working knowledge of OSHAS I8001
• First Aid at Work
