Medway Secure Training Centre
Do you want to make a difference to young people’s lives, inspiring them to achieve and realise their true potential?
Do you believe that every young person should be given a second chance and opportunity to turn their lives around?
We are looking for a PE Teacher who is passionate about creating a diverse range of opportunities for all young people to be involved in physical education, and who can raise young people’s confidence to engage in sports and fitness. We are seeking an excellent classroom practitioner who is creative, flexible and able to adopt a range of teaching strategies, whilst modelling pro-social behaviour at all times and setting clear boundaries and expectations. You will have a fair, but firm and consistent approach to working with young people, and the ability to work in a challenging but highly rewarding environment, be adept at defusing conflict, and working strictly to protocol and procedure
This is an exciting opportunity to join Nacro, an Ofsted graded ‘good’ provider, to transform the education at Medway Secure Training Centre in partnership with the National Offender Management Service
In return you can expect a generous annual leave allowance (28 days a year annual leave with the ability to accrue 1 day of additional holiday for every year of service up to 5 years plus bank holidays; pro rata for part-time employees), enrolment onto our pension scheme, the opportunity to develop your skills through our Talent Management programme, a competitive salary, opportunity to contribute to our staff engagement and diversity forums, and learn about the variety and breadth of Nacro’s provision and how we support internal progression. Season ticket loan. Working 40 hours per week (including lunch breaks), pro rata for part-time employees.
The successful candidate should have:
• A level PGCE or equivalent qualification
• GCSE English, Math and ICT (or equivalent qualifications at level 2 or above).
• A vocational or academic qualification in your specialist subject (or equivalent experience).
• Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of the barriers facing disadvantaged learners who have a history in the youth and criminal justice system.
DBS & Secure Training Centre Vetting required including 5 years reference history.
