CMS are currently looking for Senior Care Assistants to work in a Residential home on the outskirts of Dover.
Requirements of Senior Care Assistant
• Deploy and supervise team when necessary.
• Be aware, ensure & lead staff in maintaining infection control.
• Mentor new members of staff.
• Provide a high standard of care in an efficient, kind and respectful manner, preserving the dignity and self-respect of the resident at all times.
• Complete a report for each resident whose care has been undertaken, before the end of the shift.
• Attend training sessions and fire drills, as required.
• Comply with written and verbally agreed conditions and employment e.g. hours of duty, days of duty, time-keeping etc.
• Provide support and assistance for residents and day clients throughout the period of duty. This includes all aspects of personal hygiene, dressing, nutrition and social needs. Maintain a clean and tidy environment.
• Provide essential physical and mental stimulation by participating in recreational and social activities with residents, individually or in a group and assist the Activities Co-ordinator as required.
• Ensure at all times, in conjunction with other members of staff, that the physical, emotional. and social wellbeing of each resident is maintained in a safe and homely environment.
• Ensure that residents are offered choice and that their rights are acknowledged and preserved.
• Report any obvious physical or mental change in the condition of every residents
• Respond to calls from residents.
• Helping to serve meals and drinks at meal times and other times when required, taking care to present meals and refreshments in an appealing way, with polite and courteous service.
• To be understanding with residents who need assistance with feeding and provide the appropriate level of support and help.
• Responsible for making and changing beds, tidying resident’s rooms (with the resident’s permission) undertaking light cleaning duties as needed and generally assisting in ensuring that the home is kept clean, pleasant and welcoming at all times.
• To respect and maintain confidentiality of resident’s personal information at all times, this includes resident’s behaviour and actions and any incidents that may occur in the course of day to day care.
Qualifications:
Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent is essential.
Medication Administration Trained.
Understanding of safe handling of medicines - NVQ Level 2
