Our client are washroom design, fit-out and refurbishment specialists who are responsible for creating and installing inspiring, innovative washroom and toilet areas across the educational, corporate and commercial sectors. Our client is awarded contracts, which to a considerable extent, are secured on the basis of excellent historical project implementation performance and quality.
This Project Manager role exists to plan and provide leadership to teams of contractors refurbishing washrooms and similar facilities for clients, with contractors engaged by the Project Manager for specific projects.
It is the role of the Project Manager to ensure projects are completed ahead of customer completion dates, project quality standards are upheld, installation budgets are kept to and excellent communications are maintained with clients and contractors.
As a result of this a Project Manager with drive and determination is needed who can contribute, and significantly influence the growth, direction and success of the Company.
The main accountabilities for the Project Manager are:-
1. To ensure that installation commitments are realistic and can be achieved. To ensure the resources necessary to meet commitments are available, including contingency planning. To also ensure that priorities for particular projects are determined and that projects are continually reviewed, with contractor resources allocated accordingly.
2. To ensure that projects are completed within budget. To also ensure that contractor invoices are thoroughly checked before approval for payment and that variances are fully investigated prior to approval.
3. To ensure that quality checks during the installation process, where necessary, are introduced and become part of the standard system to avoid errors arising, and that where failures occur the cause is investigated with the contractors, and procedural changes made, if required.
4. To ensure that all contractors are fully competent, and where necessary, are qualified for the tasks they are required to undertake and that competence is tested and demonstrated prior to a contractor working unsupervised on specified tasks.
To assess and record the performance of contracting individuals or teams, and that appropriate action is taken where there are performance deficiencies or disciplinary issues.
To maintain excellent relationships with existing contractors. To also identify and recruit additional potential providers/contractors on an on-going basis, and ensure that we have a large pool of available contractors to call upon as required.
5. To ensure that contractors are motivated through the style, interpersonal skills, communication and motivational capability of the Project Manager. To also ensure that excellent communications are established with the client, contractors and staff within the company.
6. To strive for zero accidents or incidents (near misses). To ensure accidents or incidents are recorded, investigated, and when appropriate, reported. To also ensure that legislative requirements are fully met and risk assessments carried out with the involvement of the client, and that necessary signage is displayed.
7. The Project Manager is the “face” of the company, with the award of future contracts dependent to a considerable extent on the relationship that is developed by the Project Manager with the client. It is essential that excellent client relationships are developed and maintained.
A demonstrable track record in a project or contracting environment where leadership and/or initiative has been an essential part of the role, along with the control of project expenditure.
A knowledge and experience of washroom refurbishment and installation is essential, with an understanding of what is / isn’t feasible.
You should have the ability to lead by example, generate enthusiasm in others and deal with conflict and poor performance. An aptitude for problem solving and decision making is also important, along with planning and organisation skills to achieve specified outcomes and / or overcome problems.
The successful candidate will have drive, tenacity and excellent interpersonal skills (communications, influencing and teamwork), along with an attention to detail, and the ability to organise and manage their time effectively.
You should also have a full driving license.
Do you have the drive and ambition to succeed in this interesting and challenging role? If so we would be delighted to hear from you.
