Our client is also open to part-time hours and consultancy contracts at an agreed daily rate.
Our client requires a Delphi Developer, initially for one year, to re-develop parts of a business-critical Delphi system to cope with current and future requirements, adding new flexibility to the software and ensuring its continued use.

Key Responsibilities:
Work with the Senior Developer to overcome technical/design issues within the Delphi system and weigh the benefit of fixing against the risk of affecting system stability
Work with the Senior Developer making changes to the Delphi system that enable integration with in-house developed .NET-based software
Work with IT team members and Delphi system champions to respond to system faults. Investigate and diagnose issues and respond, fixing through development, recommended business process changes or a combination of both
On-going management of SQL Server; performing regular maintenance and working with Operational IT staff to recommend and make infrastructure changes as necessary to ensure availability and performance levels are met
Monitor back-end SQL databases, continuously managing data usage, recommending and making infrastructure changes to ensure data growth is scaled against hosting capacity
Understand and input into IT software development strategy, working with IT staff and commercial stakeholders to identify challenges and align with business need
Work with IT team and commercial staff on the long-term replacement of the Delphi system. Provide input to the process, evaluating alternative solutions, recommending design considerations and suitable upgrade paths and undertaking Delphi development to enable the transition to new platforms
Provide direct user support for cases escalated from 1st line support

Key Requirements - Knowledge/Experience:
Delphi development with strong skills in developing with Delphi 2006
Delphi solutions that use Microsoft SQL Server databases
Development of client/server software for Windows operating systems
Third-party components that enhance product functionality and enable the integration with commercial software such as Microsoft Outlook
Version control management systems (specifically Git)
Identify issues/inefficiencies and be confident in making code improvements to improve functionality, reliability or performance avoiding software regression through extensive testing
Strong documentation skills
Fast learner; able to quickly absorb business processes and logic
Strategic, creative, interpersonal and well-organised

Report generation software and report design
C# and JavaScript development
