Managing Change for Older People in Kent
The Abbeyfield Kent Society has, for almost years, provided housing and care, compassion and companionship for older people in Kent.
Like all care providers, we are working toward providing more and more diverse services for a growing number of potential service users. As a result we are dedicating more resources to meeting the needs of people living with dementia and to providing extra care supported housing.
We have over 500 staff and a growing number of volunteers but the strategy of the organisation rests with our Board of Trustees. The Board is also responsible for ensuring we meet legislative and regulatory standards as well as apply best practice to all we do.
As a result of recent retirements, we are seeking new Trustees to take their place on a talented and highly experienced Board.
Specifically, we are looking for people who have a background in residential care delivery, preferably from a not-for-profit perspective, and who also have some knowledge and/or experience in one or both of the areas of Human Resources, corporate governance and Public Relations.
The care sector is facing many challenges at a time of austerity and a tougher regulatory regime. Finding solutions to these challenges will be rewarding for its own sake, but also because you will be helping secure a safe and caring environment for old people in Kent for many years ahead.
