A motor sporting Company in West Kent are looking for an Embedded Software Engineer. Paying up to 80K, Hybrid.

Main Purpose of the Job:

To produce a range of custom made solutions to support the company's events. Areas of such support are the organisation of the events, the timing and televising.

The Company's Team:

The Research and Development department produce a wide range of customised and bespoke solutions to support the timing, televising, and organisation of the company's events.

They architect and design embedded systems for the motorsport cars to provide team telemetry and driver/engineer audio, and to deliver on-board video and audio for broadcasters and digital platforms. This is in addition to a variety of other electronics solutions designed by our small inhouse team to support any aspect of the events.

The Role:

The company is looking for an enthusiastic, focussed embedded software engineer with a passion for every aspect of embedded electronics to complement our small and efficient team of systems, hardware, and embedded software engineers. You will need to have a well established background in electronics engineering with expertise in embedded software development. You should have a strong background with proven experience in embedded software development as well as the design and implementation of FPGA based products. You should be familiar with bare-metal and OS implementations, with multi-project experience of developing on Linux. We are seeking a self-motivated individual, who has a highly methodical and structured approach to work and who can work well unaided as well as within a team. Good communication skills as well as having the ability to prioritise, multitask, and plan effectively are essential. You should be prepared to research and quickly learn new technologies, processes, strategies, and tools to meet project requirements. An ideal opportunity for an engineer who would thrive on variety and enjoys a challenge!

Qualifications:

Educated to degree level (or equivalent vocational and industry experience) in electronics engineering (or suitable equivalent, such as computer science or embedded systems)


Essential Experience:


* Strong background in the engineering domain, with experience in embedded system development and support, including bare-metal, OS (including Linux), and FGPA.
* Engineering design of products with electronic elements and components.

Desired Experience:


* Developing for an RTOS (such as QNX).
* Linux kernel driver development.
* Using MATLAB and Simulink.
* Working with networking and serial protocols (e.g. Ethernet, CAN, RS232); video encoding (e.g. H264) and transmission protocols (e.g. MPEG TS); and RF systems.
* Integrating embedded software with digital or analogue hardware.
* Architecting or assisting in the design of embedded systems.

Essential Skills Required:


* Strong background in the engineering domain, with experience in embedded system development and support, including bare-metal, OS (including Linux), and FGPA.
* Engineering design of products with electronic elements and components.
* Proficient level of programming in C and Python.
* Good level of programming in VHDL or Verilog.
* Linux development in an embedded environment.
* Excellent communication skills, being able to tailor information to the target audience.
* Good planning skills, including the ability to prioritise and multi-task effectively.
* Documentation creation for internal and external use.

Desired Skills:


* Programming in C++, C#, or Java
* Development with the Xilinx MPSoC family

Personal Qualities:


* Be highly motivated and flexible to change.
* Calm, logical approach to problem solving.
* Operate effectively in a high pressured and challenging environment, yet have a methodical and structured approach to work.
* Ability to work alone and as part of a team.

You Must:


* Be willing to travel internationally (organised by the company)
* Hold a valid UK driving licence
