The Vacancy:

PA Group, an RSK Company, are a highly respectable and growing asbestos company that provides various professional and high quality services to a mixed portfolio of clients and, to current business requirements, we are now looking for a tenacious and focused full-time, permanent Asbestos Lab Analyst to join our busy laboratory.

Key Responsibilities:

Receiving and appropriately logging samples received by the laboratory.
Preparing samples for analysis.
Carrying out analysis of samples for fibre content.
Reporting analytical findings.
Ensuring appropriate storage and retention of samples.
Generating certificates of analysis and emailing to Clients.
Knowledge of TEAMS (The Electronic Asbestos Management System) desirable.
Overseeing the laboratory team and ensuring that they carry out the work effectively.
Overseeing logging of samples.
Getting involved with continuous improvements within the department.
Monitoring of work carried out and maintaining stocks with regards to materials, etc.
Assisting with UKAS accreditation surveillance visits.
Assisting with UKAS accreditation surveillance visits.
Carrying out sample QC checks.
Checking analytical reports and survey reports for accuracy (training on quality checking will be provided).
Tending to staff and ensuring that they carry out the work effectively and within timeline.
Getting involved with other general laboratory and administrative duties to support the Quality Manager.

Qualifications & Experience:

The applicant must have the P401 qualification (or equivalent RSPH) and at the same time, must have significant experience working within this role in a laboratory/office environment and within the asbestos field. Additional qualifications beneficial (P405, P402 etc.) but not mandatory.

Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Must have good organisational and IT skills.
Must have full UK driving licence and vehicle due to location, or alternative means of transport.
