Canterbury Cathedral relies heavily on its large and varied team of committed, knowledgeable and enthusiastic Visits Volunteers who contribute immensely to the visitor experience and on a regular basis receive praise for their knowledge and positive impact on the visitor experience.
We are currently seeking a self-motivated, confident Visits Volunteer Manager who will be the first point of contact for our Visits team volunteers and will manage all aspects of volunteering including; recruitment, day-to-day management, co-ordination and the development and training of volunteers to the highest possible standard.
Working under the direction and guidance of the Head of External Engagement, this is a pivotal position responsible for the operational performance of our Visits volunteers throughout their journey at the Cathedral. This new role will ensure that volunteers feel involved as part of the Cathedral Community, and are trained, motivated, engaged, valued and fulfilled to ensure that future visitors receive the standard of welcome that has been the bedrock of Canterbury Cathedral for hundreds of years.
We are ideally looking for candidates who:-
have experience of successfully leading managing and motivating teams;
have a demonstrable enthusiasm, understanding and experience of customer service;
are confident, assertive and has strong interpersonal skills to be able to engage positively with diverse groups of volunteers and colleagues;
have an awareness of management responsibilities under employment law, health and safety and safeguarding;
are experienced in on-boarding, rota management, and training;
have a working knowledge of best practice in volunteer management;
have excellent administration and IT skills; and the ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the role.
