Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) is a unique Christian charity using aircraft to deliver help and hope across the developing world. MAF transports patients, relief workers, produce, medical supplies and Christian workers in the world’s remotest regions and places of deepest human need – places where flying is not a luxury but a lifeline. We operate in over 30 countries with over 130 planes.
Being a global organisation, sometimes working in very remote locations, IT is core to our ability to operate safely and effectively. Our IT function covers a wide portfolio from Software development, IT infrastructure and support. MAF relies on a mixture of in-house developed, bespoke and off the shelf business applications to assist with flight scheduling, aircraft maintenance and safety. We now have an opportunity for an experienced Applications Support Officer to join our team.
The role will be key to support all MAF business applications including:
IT service desk support for all business applications backed up through producing appropriate documentation and relevant reports
Being the subject matter expert for business applications, addressing issues and change requests
Liaising with developers to follow-up on progress relating to all active change requests and incidents
Assist in facilitating application testing, both technical and UAT
Deployment and delivery of application upgrades and enhancements across all MAF locations
Your role will also include supporting the implementation of new and updated business applications ensuring that IT change management process is adhered to, new releases are well communicated to the users and management and that user documentation and training plans are in place, and executed within the scope of the approved change plan (Change management).
You will train staff in the use of business applications, consulting with operations to understand the training and development requirement. You will also create and maintain training resources for staff for all MAF applications.
Essential
Aptitude in abstract and verbal reasoning
Excellent written and spoken English
Understanding of, and worked within ITIL framework
Investigation and diagnostic skills
2+ years of experience in administering business applications
Experience in Microsoft Office platforms
Experience of supporting IT systems and users
Business analysis skills and a methodical approach to systems
IT Service Desk Application knowledge and experience
Experience of developing and delivering user training
Desirable
ITIL Qualification
University degree or equivalent experience
Working in a cross-cultural environment
Understanding of CSS .NET PHP Databases (MySQL & Sql Server)
Technical experience in software development
Experience of SharePoint and web design
There is an occupational requirement for the job holder of this position to be a committed Christian. The post holder will be expected to lead and take part in prayer and biblical reflection and to be a role model for the organisation in accordance with our Christian beliefs and standards in the work place
