Pride in our Borough: A Borough that works for everyone

An exciting opportunity has arisen in Mid Kent Planning Support for a Planning Support Officer working in our busy and high performing Validation Team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is hard working, accurate, and understands the basics of planning and can interpret plans and has used GIS and planning systems, all of which are desirable for this role. The role is career graded and we are particularly looking for people with validation experience or the clear aptitude, skills and knowledge to hit the ground running.

You will need to have excellent customer service skills, as well as the people skills necessary to liaise with planning officers; be able to work to tight deadlines and be able to take ownership of queries and problems through to resolution. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that all planning applications received at the authorities are processed, registered and validated quickly and accurately.

The Council considers that all roles should be able to communicate clearly and concisely.

These posts will be on a full-time basis working 37 hours per week. We have two Permanent positions available and one 1-year Fixed term position available. Please specify in your application which role you would like to apply for. As part of the Mid Kent Planning Support shared service (MKPS) you will be supporting both Maidstone and Swale planning teams. Whilst the contract is based at Maidstone House, there is the ability to work from home on a regular basis.

Maidstone Borough Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, and expects all employee and volunteers to share this commitment.
