Job Title: Assistant Surveyor

Salary: £25 - £30K Per year (DOE)

Location: Maidstone

Exciting opportunity for an Assistant Surveyor to join a growing construction company in Mid Kent.

Working with the Commercial Director, you will be contributing to commercial, residential and public sector projects across Kent and London. This role requires a passion for first class delivery, implementing best practice and continuous improvement.

Duties will include:

Estimating costs, quantities and project timelines using company templates and formats.

Liaising with clients, providing information and identifying any issues proactively, including attending design meetings and managing design aspects in line with budgets.

Preparing tender and contract documents using established templates and formats including JCT Design and Build, to agreed deadlines.

Liaising with contractors, subcontractors, clients and other parties as necessary to ensure projects are kept on track and any issues are managed or escalated as needed.

Monitoring and evaluation of contractor performance.



The ideal candidate will have/be:

Working towards a recognised construction qualification; HNC, HND or Degree

Some hands-on experience in a construction environment or a trade background.

Knowledge and experience of using JCT contracts would be an advantage.

Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships at all levels.

A full UK driving licence and own transport.

A positive approach to problem solving and drive to get things done.

Good attention to detail and a methodical approach.

The ability to manage competing demands in a pressure environment with deadlines that are subject to change, and a flexible approach to dealing with this.

Confidence to work on your own initiative whilst still working effectively within a team.

A real thirst to learn and develop in a dynamic, busy environment.
