The University's Kent Business School has an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR Manager (0.8 FTE) to join and lead their newly devolved HR team. This is an interesting time to join the team and HR at Kent as we continue to go through a period of transformational change.

Kent Business School is an international Business School, with a global reputation for delivering research and teaching excellence. As a dual-intensive Business School, their distinctiveness comes from a forward-thinking approach to business education. Sustainable innovation is placed at the heart of their educational outlook, underpinned by world-class research. They are interdisciplinary by nature, bringing innovative solutions to real world issues. The School is integrated into the local business community as a hub for knowledge creation and exchange. They are proud that their industry collaborations and global partnerships benefit students, businesses and the community.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the HR Manager will sit within Kent Business School and lead the divisional HR team to deliver a full and tailored best in class HR service to the division. You'll partner with and support the Divisional Leadership Team on all aspects of the divisional people agenda, identifying specific people related issues, challenges and opportunities.

This role works in a devolved HR structure and you'll need to strike the balance between developing local HR practices that are needed within the division, and ensuring that University policies, procedures and guidance are adhered to, enabling consistency and ultimately mitigating people related risks. You'll maintain strong relationships with all functions within the central Human Resources & Organisational Development directorate, as well as with other devolved HR colleagues across the University. HR is at the heart of everybody’s working life at Kent and our devolved structure makes this stronger

To succeed in this role, you'll be an experienced and strong HR professional, with significant and extensive recent HR generalist experience, working either as a HR Business Partner or HR Manager (or equivalent level). With a proven background of providing generalist HR guidance and support to senior managers, you'll have a passion for continual improvement to provide effective and efficient solutions.

The University of Kent is a distinctive and attractive place to work. Our staff enjoy competitive salaries, an occupational pension scheme, very generous holiday entitlements and a great working environment. We also offer hybrid working options.
