Warehouse operative/technician

Portable Power Technology (PPT) specialise in design and supply of power solutions to the leisure, commercial, mobile and off grid markets with over 15-years of experience and we are seen as technical experts in our sector. We continue to see significant growth in our business even during the Covid-19 crisis and we therefore wish to expand our small team further.

PPT is looking for a warehouse operative/technician to join a small hard-working team of enthusiastic and passionate individuals in a really interesting business and environment.

Currently the warehouse is operated by a number of people in the team on an ad hoc basis but due to our increasing business in the last 2 years we are now at a point where we need someone to take responsibility for both our internal warehouse and 3rd party warehouse. Everyone in our team works in many different jobs diligently and enthusiastically and who ever joins us won’t just be limited to warehouse duties but will get involved in many facets of the business and will have many opportunities presented to them to develop, grow and learn new skills.

The main role will require picking and packing of goods daily for both B2B and B2C customers, booking in goods as they arrive from overseas and from our UK supply chain, inspecting incoming goods to ensure they meet our purchase order and general inspection of the quality of the goods.

Since we also operate a third party warehouse in Surrey, we will also require the individual to visit this warehouse frequently to do stock checks and in some cases bring goods back to the main warehouse. It is therefore important that the applicant holds a clean and full driving licence.

As well as warehousing duties such as restocking shelves and keeping the warehouse tidy the applicant will also have the opportunity to get involved in basic testing and inspection of our products. These products may be samples initially to test the market or a sample from a new batch to ensure consistent quality. Flexibility and motivation are key for this person to succeed and integrate into our team.

Applicant should have good written skills have basic computer knowledge using word and excel.

Full training will given to the right candidate and no warehouse experience is required, just a desire to succeed and learn.

Main responsibilities:

• Pick and pack goods from warehouse
• Product manifests
• Load up goods daily with courier vehicle
• General upkeep of the warehouse
• Quarterly stock take
• Reporting low stock to purchasing
• End of year stock take
• Stock management (filling shelves, monitor levels)
• Receiving, checking and booking in goods
• Product testing

Applicants must meet the following requirements:
• Minimum GCSE Maths and English, one science at GCSE is optional but preferred and will enable the candidate to learn more about our products and applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Computer skills (Microsoft office, email)
• Motivation to succeed and enjoy working in fast growing company
• Full clean driving license
• The successful candidate will be based at our office in West Kingsdown, Kent. Standard working hours are 9am-5pm Mon-Fri.

Attractive pay package, 28 days annual holiday including bank holidays, sick pay allowance, pension and the opportunity to progress further in the business is available to the right candidate.

Successful candidates will become part of the PPT family and will work in a supportive and relaxed atmosphere.

If you meet the above requirements and are interested in joining an innovative and fast growing company please apply with your CV with covering letter by email by clicking the Apply button below.
