Do you have extensive experience of supporting and advising people, in particular those in difficult situations needing confidential, sensitive and professional guidance? If so, this key role of Student Support Manager could be the ideal opportunity for you.

In this role you will lead on the pastoral support for all students within the Division for the study of Law, Society and Social Justice, ensuring they have access to prompt, consistent and practical advice, support and guidance in order to support their programme of study.

As Student Support Manager you will:

Design and deliver an excellent student support service, maximising opportunities for students to benefit from support
Promote and enhance student wellbeing and success by means of a managed and pro-active approach to interventions
Enable the Division to offer its students a high level of pastoral support by managing University procedures and processes
Act as the Division’s Designated Safeguarding Officer promoting the University’s Safeguarding policy
Lead, motivate and develop relevant staff, providing clear objectives and managing performance against these
To be successful in this role you will have/be:

Degree or equivalent experience of working in a similar role within Higher Education (HE)
Experience working in a HE or Further Education context offering frontline services to students
Experience with supporting/advising people across a wide range of different situations including crisis situations
Proven staff management skills, including the ability to motivate others and manage the allocation of work
Awareness of the principles and practices of good support and counselling
