Senior Carer Support Workers – East Kent

New Hospital Discharge Service
Guaranteed Hours - Full or Part time nights available
£12.50 - £13.50 per hour

We have a fantastic opportunity to join us in a brand-new venture at Crossroads Care Kent. We are building a new waking night team to support hospital discharge services from all three East Kent Hospitals. The aim is to increase quicker discharges from hospital, reducing unnecessary prolonged stays for people, and allowing them to recover in the comfort of their own home, as well as freeing up hospital beds. The service will also provide support for people returning home from hospital towards the end of their lives.

You will be an experienced support worker looking for a more meaningful role in supporting vulnerable people in their own homes. Our experienced care management team will be there to support you 24/7 and to help you develop your caring skills and confidence.

The job will be picking up night calls - sometimes at short notice but within your rota’d hours - to be there for people coming out of hospital, and their Carers. During your visits, you will be making sure the person is settled and comfortable, assisting with medication and nutrition, delivering personal care and support, monitoring health, updating care plans and being on hand for all types of care needs. As a Carer Support Worker, you will also be able to provide emotional and practical support for family Carers; providing a listening ear and ways to help them cope with their situation. It is varied and one night is unlikely to be the same as another as people’s needs are always different.

We are looking for lovely, resilient, caring people who want to make a real difference - so, if this is you and you are happy to work nights, have care experience and the capability to undertake care assessments (training and support will be given to develop this new skill), have a full driving licence and use of your own telephone we would love to hear from you!

An NVQ Level 3 or equivalent is preferred but not essential to start with, as training will be provided. In return, you will have a chance to be part of a rewarding, brand-new team, delivering much needed support to people coming out of hospital, enabling them to return to their own home. The key roles we have right now are for waking nights but there may be some day work available. In addition, we offer:

• Excellent night rates at £12.50ph during the week, £13.50ph at weekends
• £9.50 per hour day rate
• 30 to 40 hour guaranteed hour contracts (10-hour night shifts)
• Excellent mileage allowance at 40p per mile
• Paid travel time
• Paid high quality training
• Overtime opportunities
• Contributory pension scheme
• Job satisfaction
• DBS check
• Permanent position
• Approachable, friendly managers with great team support
• Access to Benenden Healthcare
• Christmas Savings Club
• Increasing holiday entitlement with service
• Enhanced sick pay after probation period
• All PPE provided
• Recruitment referral bonus
• Longer calls, quality time with families
• A great, supportive place to work – just ask one of our team!
