Support worker required in Sittingbourne for an elderly residential home. Temporary/flexible working.

Support Worker - Elderly & Dementia
Sittingbourne
Temporary to ongoing placements
£9.77 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay)

Organisation/Company:
A care home in Sittingbourne is looking to bolster its team during an extremely busy period. This care home boasts a friendly and welcoming environment with highly skilled and experienced staff and management. The care home offers residential, respite and holiday care services for elderly individuals.

Role:
You will work within a friendly team offering care for elderly residents across a busy care home. Individuals may have dementia and/or have end of life requirements. You will be expected to complete full personal care with some residents and assist with personal care for more able residents. You will be required to be flexible with your availability as they are looking to cover a variety of different shifts. Depending on your shift pattern your duties will vary but you will typically be providing support for each individual based on their individual care plan.

Work Experience/Skills required:

* A minimum of 6 months experience within a similar care setting in the last 2 years (Hays must gain references to cover this experience).
* Experience and willingness to provide a high level of personal care (helping to wash, toilet, dress and assisting with meals).
* Experience in administering medication, preparing meals and planning and partaking in activities
* Experience with providing support and care to elderly individuals, individuals with dementia and patients on end of life.
* NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 are desirable but not vital.
* The sensitivity required to provide a trusting and stimulating environment along with being passionate about supporting people.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to be a good team player
* A genuine desire to make a real difference in people's lives
* You will be positive and willing to create and follow a personalised service to every individual that you support.
* Be available to support in whatever capacity is required by an individual to nurture their path to independence.
