Commercial Underwriter

Barker Munro Recruitment, a leading Kent Insurance recruitment agency, is working with a fantastic insurance organization who are currently looking to add to their commercial underwriting team with the appointment of a Commercial Underwriter.

This impressive insurance company have a clear objective to continue its commercial lines expansion in line with strategic plans to develop new products and underwrite selectively to ensure continued success in their chosen markets.

The role purpose is to contribute to the profitable development of commercial underwriting whilst developing key broker relationships. You will be involved in working with customers by identifying the right types of clients through broker interaction and trading within the brokers. As the Commercial Underwriter, you will do this in a variety of ways including broker meetings, building lasting broker relationships and supporting the growth of the broker accounts.

Training will be supplied to you as a Commercial Underwriter, but you will be able to demonstrate a solid awareness of commercial insurance ideally from an underwriting background. It's also important for you to exhibit the right personality – positive, with a sales flair and a natural sales focus from a broking or underwriting background.

To be successful as the Assistant Commercial Underwriter, we are seeking applicants with:
• Excellent communication skills both written and oral, with the ability to work with others internally and externally.
• The ability to negotiate and influence results.
• Good problem solving skills and the experience to prioritise work and meet specified deadlines.
• Proactive, innovative and able to take the initiative.
