Data Scientist - Marketing
We are looking for a 1-3 years experienced Data Scientist with experience in Predictive Analytics for Marketing, ideally around Campaigns Selection, Customer Lifetime Value (LTV), and Optimisation of Marketing Spend and ROI.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic, growing data science team established for only a few years and already providing excellent results for the business. We require someone who has commercial experience of the application of data science/ machine learning techniques, ideally including Gradient Boosting/ GBM modelling, who is commercially minded and understands the commercial impact of their work.
In the role, you will analyse large customer data sets to understand customers behaviour and develop predictive models that will help maintain their position as a leader in their field.
Key to this role is the ability to use R or Python to provide effective engineering of large data sets and analysis from a variety of sources. You will develop predictive models using packages in R or Python and machine learning algorithms and assess the ongoing performance of these.
Responsibilities:
* Extract information from a range of company systems using SQL queries.
* Merge data sets together using keys and fuzzy matching techniques. Impute missing values, identify and remove anomalies, calculate derived variables that have business meaning.
* Think laterally to define solutions to business problems by combining numerous internal and external data sources.
* Present results in an impactful way by aggregating to a suitable level, graphing and tabulation.
* Conduct and design multivariate tests to drive decision making
* Pass on your technical knowledge and enthusiasm to other team members instilling analytics as a route to business answers
* Set up and conduct experiments to test hypotheses and optimise marketing spend at scale
* Use machine learning to provide predictions for customer's next best action
Skills and experience:
* Data Scientist with solid knowledge of statistical techniques and modelling
* Previous experience using R or Python as the primary programming language within a business or academic environment
* Previous experience of developing advanced scripts for data processing
* Previous experience of using tools to extract data across systems - being able to acquire relevant information from a variety of sources, identify key issues from a mass of data, and use to solve problems or make sound commercial decisions
* Strong quantitative analytical skills
* Strong communication skills
Systems experience:
* SQL
* Proficient in Microsoft applications of Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
* R or Python
* Ability to read and understand R code (desirable)
* Experience of a CRM tool (desirable)
