A Progressive and expanding manufacturing company in East Kent is looking for an assembly technician to join an enthusiastic, young and professional team. The role is site based and involves mechanical and electrical build, final assembly and test.

Aquaread is a multi-award winning British designer and manufacturer of multiparameter water quality and level monitoring instruments. Our products are proudly 100% UK manufactured and assembled at our site in Broadstairs. Our water quality probes and level sensors are designed to monitor surface, ground and waste waters with high accuracy whilst being extremely easy to use.

Applicants should have previous assembly experience preferably within an automotive/aerospace manufacturing environment. This is a multi-disciplined role and requires a sound working knowledge of electronics and mechanics as well as the ability to read schematics, Bill of Materials and engineering drawings, use hand tools and soldering equipment.

Applicants must have an engineering background and hold formal qualifications such as City & Guilds, ONC or HNC. You must also be able to confidently assemble and wire up our various products, working from engineering drawings and electrical schematics.

Essential for this role:
• Soldering
• Crimping of wires
• Cable forms/loops
• Mechanical assembly
• Fault finding
• Understanding of resin and potting
• Understanding of cable identing
• Understanding of the PCB assembly process
• Able to read 3rd angle projection drawings
• Able to understand Bill of Materials (BOM’s) and product hierarchies
• Self-motivated, able to work on own initiative or as part of a team
• Enthusiastic and flexible approach
• Working under pressure
• Meeting deadlines

Desirable for this role:
• Use of Vernier and micrometer
• Basic computer skills
• A meticulous approach to record keeping
• Continuous improvement and LEAN manufacturing techniques

Other Requirements:
• To operate in line with the Company's ISO 9001 & 14001 system
• To follow all Health and Safety requirements as laid down by Company regulation
• To carry out any other related tasks as may be requested from time to time by a Business Director

Starting Salary: £20-25K per annum depending on experience.
Working Hours: 35 hours per week – 9am to 5pm (1hr for lunch) Mon-Fri.
