Support Workers - Day Staff

We are passionate about the opportunity to be representing a fantastic charity, dedicated to helping adults who are deaf, deafblind or have hearing loss with additional, and sometimes complex, support needs.
We are looking for Permanent Support Workers to work within an energetic team.
When you meet the team, we are sure you will feel as engaged as we did! If you have experience in residential care or as a support worker with adults with learning disabilities or who are deaf or having hearing loss we are looking for you! This is a fantastic charity that prides itself on its values and ethical approach to providing the best care for service users.
We are looking for suitable candidates to work a temporary to permanent contract over 3 months then if successful, you will be taken on by the client permanently.
You will be working in a large residential close to Canterbury town centre with parking available. Working hours are agreed as per the manager but can be very flexible including weekends, and may vary due to the nature of the work. These rota's are done a month in advance and are fair across the team, with Manager's accommodating everyone's desires if they can. You may be required to work some occassional sleep-in and waking night shifts.

Below is a summary of the main responsibilities expected of the Support Assistant:
* Support people with a hearing loss and learning disabilities as well as other conditions.
* Maximise independence for the people through the provision of appropriate person centred support with personal hygiene, clothing, medical appointments, health needs, including exercise and medication
* To promote and enable choice, independence, self determination to people with a learning disability through practical, physical and emotional support
* To contribute to create a sense of community as place of mutuality and belonging
Requirements:
Experience of working with individuals with a hearing loss and learning disability, autism or those with mental health is beneficial but not essential - You do not need to have worked with the deaf before but if you are eager to learn BSL and gain a QCF Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care they will arrange and fund this for you!!
