Theobalds are a refurbishment contractor and we are currently recruiting for a buyer role. The ideal candidate will need to have knowledge and experience of buying within the construction industry, and will have good attention to detail, be driven and good business acumen.

Main duties include -

- Negotiating prices and terms with suppliers
- Assisting contracts managers with obtaining prices and suppliers knowledge
- Ordering building materials and hiring plant
- Organising and confirming delivery dates and time scales
- Liaising with site managers, contract managers and suppliers
- Obtaining quotations from existing approved suppliers
- General administration duties
- Maintaining small fleet of company vehicles.

Additional requirements -

- Personal communication skills to deal effectively, efficiently and appropriately with tasks in hand either written or verbal.
- Solid knowledge of construction materials and plant
- Fluency in English
- Ability to prioritise and organise own workload effectively and efficiently to meet changeable deadlines.
- Willingness to work flexibly to meet project deadlines
- Demonstrate initiative, is not fazed by problems and has an ability to fine solutions.
- A comprehensive knowledge of the construction industry
- Ability to maintain electronic and paper administrative and information systems.
- Experience of Windows based software packages, including word, spreadsheets and email.
- Previous experience of buying would be advantageous.
