Job Summary
To assist the Head of Engineering Services, in the design and supervision of engineering works, to act as project manager or to assist in project teams to provide technical assistance on electrical engineering maintenance and capital works where appropriate.


Position Expectations
• Provide management guidance on electrical assets and act as Authorised Person
• Assist in delivery of department KPIs, budgetary spend, risk management and programme management
• Provide guidance to team members on technical subjects and provide guidance to junior staff
• Prepare designs, contract documents, specifications, drawings, risk and environmental assessments for the execution of electrical engineering
• Assess Contractors, Consultants and Suppliers against safety and quality competency criteria
• Assist, when required, as Project Manager or Employer’s Agent in agreeing interim certificates for payment, final accounts and claims resolution on engineering projects
• Liaise with architects, consultants and quantity surveyors appointed to take control of a project
• Ensure contractual compliance with the specifications, drawings and risk and environmental assessments
• Ensure that site records are maintained to enable works to be measured and evaluated
• Furnish reports, regularly for financial and progress reports on contract works
• Design and prepare specifications and drawings for maintenance work and items of new work
• Provide estimates and feasibility studies for proposed new schemes and alterations to existing assets


Candidate requirements
• BSc Electrical Engineering
• Chartered Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET)
• Minimum 8 years post graduate experience
• Proven track record of electrical engineering design and thorough understanding of the design process
• Industrial experience of MCC’s, MV and HV services
• A proven track record of responsibility from the construction phase and project management of electrical engineering projects
• Good user skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
• Problem Solver / Decision Maker
• Structured / Methodical approach
• Current PLG (car) licence
