Gardener for Giraffe Manor
Howletts & Port Lympne Wild Animal Parks is part of a charity based organisation committed to protecting rare and endangered animals from extinction through captive breeding and re-introduction programmes.
The horticulture department at Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve have a permanent vacancy for an experienced gardener for 2 days a week.
Working with a small team, the job holder will be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the grounds and gardens at Giraffe Manor which is part of the Port Lympne Wild Animal Park. Duties will include grass cutting, strimming, hedge cutting, cleaning and weeding paths, steps and walkways, planting and maintenance of annual boarders, baskets, tubs and urns, maintenance of herbaceous, shrub and mixed boarders and glasshouse duties.
Qualifications are an advantage but not essential for this role as experience of similar work will also be taken into account. You must have a good level of physical fitness with good general horticultural knowledge and the ability to work well unsupervised or as part of a team. A valid driving licence is essential as you might be driving company vehicles. We are looking for someone who is motivated, enthusiastic and flexible and happy to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
The role is 16 hours per week worked 2 days out of seven. Working hours are 7:30am – 4:00pm each selected day. Salary in line with Minimum/Living Wage. All applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
