The Kent Police and Crime Commissioner, Matthew Scott, is seeking a research officer to support him in his key role of holding Kent Police to account.
You would be providing strategic briefings, reviewing national reports and horizon scanning to ensure the PCC and his team are ahead of the curve and can plan accordingly, and would also produce and maintain regular reporting packages on key local and national issues. .
You will brief and advise members of the senior management team, and provide specific support to the Head of Strategy and Engagement and the PCC’s Staff Officer, ensuring they are effectively briefed on key developments in policy, policing and government.
Given the requirement to provide expert advice and guidance to the PCC and his senior managers, you will be educated to degree level (or equivalent) and/or have experience in a policy or research role, potentially in local or national government, or a similar public policy background. You must possess must excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be fluent in all the usual Microsoft Office applications and those relating to data management. Crucially, you will be able to work proactively and independently, often under pressure
and with limited time.
