Position Expectations

Reporting to the Operations Manager you will be responsible for the implementation and adoption of lean manufacturing techniques to create an efficient and effective production facility. Monitoring and analysing of custom and practices to identify waste and opportunities to improve, creating a culture of striving for best in class.

Liaising with the company’s Production Engineering and Manufacturing Teams ensuring the successful transition for new and existing products ensuring that projects are achieved on time, to quality and budget.
Operate in a project support role for developing existing product line efficiencies.


Key responsibilities include:
• Manage and lead continuous improvement projects, as well as mentoring and coaching team members
• Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools and methodology in the implementation of manufacturing excellence initiatives
• Identify and manage a portfolio of lean projects directed at reducing waste and improving quality to provide greater value; implements such tools as: 5S, KPI, SMED, VSM, and Kaizen
• Train and lead cross-functional continuous improvement teams; focusing on measurable quality, service and cost improvements; mentor change agents
• Implement a formal six sigma program that focuses on reducing process and product variation. Implement such tools as: SPC, Process Capability, Pareto analysis, Fishbone, SMED, DOE.
• Train, coach and motivate personnel in the understanding and adoption of new principles and techniques
• Drive the standardisation of processes and the implementation of metrics and best practices
• Assist in setting annual operational targets and help drive improvements to achieve those targets


Skills, know-how and experience required:
• Ideally degree educated in an engineering related discipline or with a recognised engineering apprenticeship within a manufacturing environment
• Thorough understanding of Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques
• Knowledge of statistical tools and techniques used in continuous improvement
• A good level of understanding and application of process engineering principles, concepts, practices and standards

• Ability to plan, prioritise and effectively manage time, meet deadlines and produce quality deliverables
Remuneration & Benefits
• Very Competitive Basic Salary
• Pension, death in service scheme, company profit sharing scheme and rewards and recognition scheme
• 74-hour fortnight worked over 9 days with alternate Fridays off
• 25 days’ holiday + Bank Holiday
