We now have exciting opportunities for Laundry Assistants to join our team.


We are looking for a motivated individual to join our Elmwood Care Home in the Laundry Department as a Laundry Assistant. You will be supporting the Supervisor with the smooth running of the laundry department.


Responsibilities of the Laundry Assistant
• Sorting of soiled linen and clothing observing hygienic working practises
• Maintain a clean working environment
• Sorting, ironing and packing of clean linen and clothing in preparation for forward delivery
• Operation of laundry equipment to include:
o Industrial washing machines / Industrial tumble dryers/rotary ironing press/Industrial hand steam iron
o Fold clothing and linen and sort into containers for individual residents

You will follow and ensure all staff comply with all health and safety processes, that include:
• Observe infection control policy and procedures
• Observe hygienic working practices and COSHH regulations
• Maintain specified quality standards
• Ensure uniform and personal appearance is clean and professional

Skills required
• Previous experience within a laundry department or dry cleaning environment
• Experience with industrial washing machines
• Full Driving license
• Positive “Can do attitude”.
• A mature and responsible attitude to work
• Ability to perform tasks of a physical nature including lifting, loading and standing for long periods of time
