We are looking for an exceptional individual to join theTechnical Department as a Senior Scientist on permanent basis.



Primary Role:



* Provides technical review, direction, and feedback to others. Conducts advanced research.

* Designs and executes experiments leading to the development and implementation of Product and Process improvements processes; applies advanced multi-disciplinary analytical techniques. Analyses data from multiple experiments, formulates conclusions and determines future experiments.

* Integrates data and identifies critical process variables.

* Documents experimental procedures and results per established guidelines.

* Facilitates process transfer and training to manufacturing.

* Trains lower-level scientists.

* Participates in lab safety.

* Presents scientific observations at internal technology reviews

* Expertise and Problem Solving: Establishes criteria and technical standards for excellence; anticipates, recognizes, and resolves technical problems

* Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system

* To identify, define and manage technical process improvement projects to help the IVD manufacturing operations improve process performance and reduce standard costs. This may include travel but would be limited to less than 10%.

* To meet agreed project timelines and improve on site KPIs.

* To contribute to Quality Systems activities including investigations of complaints, non-conformances, and delivering CAPAs

* Provide leadership and vision to the technical activities on site

* Help to develop a strong platform for staff development and fulfilment in the technical department

* Provide Health & Safety guidance in the technical areas

* Approach the role in a flexible manner, and be prepared to adapt to requirements outside of the immediate role that are essential to the organisation



Skills:



This role requires technical knowledge and manufacturing experience across the different disciplines of IVD Manufacture (specifically EIA and CLIA assays); these include, but are not limited to:



* ? manufacture, purification & analysis of antibodies & recombinant antigens (e.coli & insect cell),

* ? conjugation of antibodies and antigens to horse radish peroxidase or flourophores

* ? large scale 96 well plate coating (~7,000 plates per day),

* ? bulk solution manufacture; up to 500L bulks

* ? component matching, filling and freeze drying.

* ? Packing and assembly of kits



Education/ Qualifications/Qualities



* Ph.D.: 4 years / BSc: 10 years? experience in research in industrial or academic setting.

* Candidates must have experience and understanding of protein bio-conjugation (e.g. antibody drug conjugation, protein biophysics (e.g. protein-protein interactions, structure-function relationships, protein stability, and associated analytical methods), and protein purification methodologies (e.g. size exclusion, ion exchange, hydrophobic and hydrophilic interaction chromatography (HIC and HILIC), and affinity chromatography.

* Familiar with standard laboratory techniques.

* Ability to present orally and in writing at a professional level.

* Ability to perform proficiently under applicable regulatory requirements.

* Medical device experience preferred.
