This company is a privately owned residential construction company operating in the South East with its development partner.

With a history of delivering high quality small to medium residential schemes they are focussed on expansion through capitalising on their extensive land bank and strong financial backing. A rapid but well executed delivery program will put them on par with the more recognisable regional house builders, both in size and units delivered.

Focusing on brand, quality and reputation they have numerous schemes due on site within the next 3 - 6 months. Project values range from £9M to £87M including luxury waterfront apartments, rural housing development, multi occupier urban regeneration and luxury housing.

We have a strong working relationship with this client, having placed many of their commercial and operational staff. They deliver on their promises and allow staff to have autonomy in their role, no matter what their level - only offering guidance and support when asked.

Your new role
The role of the Assistant Buyer will be to work with the Senior Buyer to ensure the efficient running of the materials and sub-contract purchasing function and co-ordinate with the commercial team to ensure financial control of all materials and sub-contracts purchased for building operations.

Other duties will include, but not limited to; ensure all materials are delivered to sites in line with current build programmes, ensure the procurement of all sites/buying phases are continually monitored against budget, maintain an up to date library of standard house type material schedules, produce accurate site specific material schedules and process material orders, negotiate bulk price agreements and ensure competitive quotations are obtained for materials not covered by bulk agreements, ensure the efficient running of the computerised sub-contract purchasing system. You will also manage a junior buyer.

What you'll need to succeed
In order to be considered for this role you will need to have relevant experience working for a either a House Builder or larger developer, with knowledge of construction methods and materials, strong mathematical and IT skills. You will also need to have experience of negotiating your own prices for materials.

What you'll get in return
In return as the Assistant Buyer, you can expect a salary of up to £30k + car allowance, holiday and pension.
