Arborist Team Leader
Salary circa £21,000 DOE
Situated near Canterbury in Kent, Howletts Wild Animal Park works in conjunction with The Aspinall Foundation; a charity committed to conservation and the reintroduction of captive bred species back into their natural habitats.
The Role:
The Estates Department at Howletts Wild Animal Park has a vacancy for a permanent full-time Arborist Team Leader.
The role involves maintenance, both routine and emergency, to the trees and woodland areas within the wild animal park as well as off-site woodlands. You will identify hazardous trees and the cause of the problem and provide action plans where required on how to deal with the issues found and oversee works. You will provide aerial support to other team members and carry out tree pruning along with producing timber products. Other duties will include: time management of the arboriculture team and ensuring expected standards are met. You will be responsible for producing health & safety documentation and ensuing all team members follow health & safety policies and procedures. You will also assist that Estates Manager with recruitment when required.
The Person:
We are looking for an experienced arborist who is, motivated and enthusiastic for the outdoors. You will have a willingness to undertake training where available and an ability to work with rage of arboriculture and horticultural tools and equipment. A valid driving licence is essential as you will be required to drive company vehicles around the park.
You must hold, NPTC CS 30/31/32/38/39/40/41 or equivalent. A MEWP operators certificate, trailer towing licence and experience using tractors & trailers and PTO driven chipper is desirable, however full training will be provided.
Working hours are 40 hours per week, worked 7:30am - 4:00pm five days out of seven. Some overtime will be required.
