We are currently recruiting for a dynamic and ever-developing organisation that are seeking to recruit a very well experienced Senior Mortgage Underwriter to join their business.

The role will require you to provide support to the Head of Lending, Underwriting applications accurately within prescribed timescales whilst focusing on providing excellent customer service at all times. Responsibilities will include managing key relationships, underwriting cases and maintaining internal systems with up to date lender data/criteria

Duties will include:

* Assess portfolio Landlords in accordance with current regulations and guidelines
* The ability to Interpret CAIS information in accordance with current lending guidelines
* Provide training to Underwriters where skill gaps are identified
* Taking ownership of complex cases and queries
* Build and maintain effective relationships with all new and existing clients
* Ensure timely, accurate and appropriate responses to telephone calls/enquiries or correspondence from clients, lenders or valuers
* Liaise with Mortgage Consultants, appraising them of the progress of specific mortgage cases and seeking to resolve any queries arising
* Liaise with Senior Management, escalating any specific problems for discussion and resolution
* Works within prescribed procedures and practices
* Inputs, updates and maintains data so that systems and files accurately reflect current position at all times
* Produces written correspondence and documents using standard formats
* Manages diary system to monitor cases and progress where appropriate
* Assists colleagues in dealing with more complex cases
* Present cases to Credit Committee for approval

Key skills and experiences:

* Extensive experience in underwriting within ideally Buy to Let but Residential or Commercial mortgage underwriting experience would be considered
* Experience of dealing with brokers and third parties
* Excellent communication skills
* Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines
* Strong planning and problem-solving skills
* Coping with changing circumstances and acting in a manner that facilitates the change process
* Redirects efforts proactively applying an understanding of the reasons to support colleagues
* Recognises the need for change and makes recommendations accordingly
* Pre-empts problems by anticipating the need to adapt approach, initiates changes
* Analytically minded with high attention to detail
