Our established Pharmaceutical Client based in Kent is currently seeking a skilled Process Scientist to join their team. Reporting to the Senior Process Chemist, the primary objective of this role is to support the Group in the delivery of manufacturing process improvements, process support, internal technology transfer, and where appropriate, to provide support to transitioning processes out of R&D.
Duties include:
• Develop process knowledge of on-site processes and interact with all departments involved in the manufacture and batch release process of API intermediates arising from botanical materials
• Support the Botanical Drug Substance (BDS) Production Department during transfer of new processes/products; assist in the development of new processes on current products and optimise current processes
• Support Qualification and Validation activities associated with implementation of the above
• Be able to deliver to set deadlines
• Provide technical guidance to other operational and support functions for completion of quality documentation
• Support transitioning BDS/API processes from Research & Development (R&D) into the Production Department
• Look to identify, support and eventually lead Continuous Improvement ideas/initiatives across the Production Department
• Support the delivery of company/site objectives to the required Quality, Regulatory and EHS standards
• Where quality/safety issues arise facilitate and/or own investigations into root causes and report to line management/key stakeholders in a timely and efficient manner
• Generate and report additional process understanding of existing processes and fundamental understanding of new or improved processes.
• Identify opportunities for improving and/or redeveloping current manufacturing processes and/or equipment
• Contribute to generation of key Production cGMP/EH&S documents
• Communicate widely with internal and external stakeholders/business partners where required
Education/ Skills/ Attributes:
• A minimum of a higher level, scientific degree, ideally with relevant work experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry or an analytical/chemistry/forensic sciences PhD
• Experience of analytical method development and validation for pharmaceutical products and assisting in complex investigations
• Track record of delivering to deadlines and being proactive to solve problems
• Experience of working collaboratively with chemists, formulation scientists, regulatory, QA & production
