Job Summary
We are currently seeking a Mechanical Mate to join our client's Engineering Team. You will play an integral part in the function of the Maintenance Services Team, ensuring that the organisation’s assets are designed, constructed, maintained and repaired effectively, efficiently and to the appropriate standards of safety. You will be required to carry out aspects of improvement, maintenance and repair works to the Board’s assets. This will require a degree of technical knowledge over a wide range of engineering plant, equipment and installations.

Position Expectations
• Carry out work to a very high standard, working on one’s own initiative and with minimum supervision
• Multi-skill across a range inclusive of welding, fendering and machining
• Assist in fault finding on equipment and implement solutions
• Carry out planned preventive and reactive maintenance in accordance with written instructions, perform routine repairs and complete report sheets either manually or electronically
• Liaise directly with staff or other directorates, contractors, stakeholders and other outside organisations, as appropriate


Candidate requirements
• Apprenticeship in appropriate discipline to NVQ Level 2 standard and associated C&G’s
• Hydraulic, heavy machinery and welding/fabrications experience
• Technical specialist knowledge in a wide range of plant and equipment
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Ability to work from height and in confined spaces
