S Simmonds & Son Ltd are looking to recruit two part time Retail Manager’s to manage their shop situated within Sutton Valence Senior School as a job share. However we may consider one person for the role solely.

The Role is for 28.5 hours per week in school term time only and worked Monday , Wednesday and Friday 8 hours per day and 4.5 hours on Saturday Morning. The hours will be split between both of you with additional hours to enable handovers.

During school holidays we open the school shop for one day per week only with the exception of the summer holidays. Summer is our busiest time for fitting new and existing pupils of the senior school and prep school. We operate an appointment system at this time. Summer opening hours are increased for the month of August and the first week of September to include Thursdays. At this busy time we need to have both members of staff working in the shop.

The shop sells uniform, stationery and toiletries and we also run the second hand uniform sales for the school.

Our successful candidates will primarily be customer service focused and have the drive and enthusiasm to maintain the shop to a high level throughout both busy and quiet periods. They will ideally have experience of working in a retail sales environment with computerised till and cash handling skills. We require good verbal and written skills for communicating with the school and our own staff and you must be able to use Microsoft office, emails and basic spreadsheets.

Our customer is primarily the school, who send their parents, pupils, both day and boarding and staff to use the school shop
This is a unique position where we are situated within the school and the successful candidates will need to meet with the school before the appointment can take place and you will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check as part of the school’s safeguarding policy

We also have a menswear department in our flag ship store situated within Tunbridge Wells along with a customer service and on line distribution centre in Paddock Wood, where the initial interviews will take place.

Hourly rate of £8.60 to £9.50
