Specialist Support Worker

We are currently looking to fill gaps in our planned new rotas which will include early, late and day shifts, as well as more flexible hours to meet the needs of those we support. Shifts will generally include weekend work (on average 1 in 3 weekends off) and some public holiday working where normal shifts fall on a public holiday. We also have Waking Night and Casual Work opportunities.

We are proud to say that support workers at the Kent Autistic Trust are quite unique. Recently weve reviewed their job role and we believe their new job title of Specialist Support Worker is a more worthy job title for our frontline autism experts that they are.

The Trust uses rigorous but friendly selection techniques to really understand whether candidates possess the values and attributes to work alongside our experienced team. Of course, experience comes from training and we are equally proud of the excellent learning curriculum we offer for new joiners and experienced workers alike.

The care we provide calls for a broad range of skills and diversity amongst our workforce to support people with challenging and complex needs. Compassion is at the heart of our business as is empathy, dignity and respect. We ensure any personal care needed is given in a kind and safe manner. However, when it comes to opportunity we truly offer the people we support with the chance to enrich their lives through community and new experiences.

Working for us, often means that no two days are the same. Our staff seamlessly transition between our residential and day services, and we also support a number of tenants with living as independently as possible in supported living accommodation or at home or in respite. The ability to drive is an important criteria as the logistics of what we do mean that we need people to drive those they support, although a driving licence is not an essential criteria for every role.

Specialist Support Worker

We offer the following benefits, which include some salary sacrifice arrangements, although some benefits are dependent on a minimum earnings threshold:

o 33 days holiday
o Generous occupational sick scheme
o Pension
o Life Assurance
o Long Service Awards
o Counselling Services
o Employee Assistance Programme
o Retail Scheme
o Voluntary sleep-ins, currently £60 per night
o Opportunities to pick up additional voluntary casual shifts

With plans to introduce the following voluntary benefits:

o Discounted Gym Membership
o Financial Well being Scheme (loans and savings)
o Cycle to work scheme
o Car lease scheme

Staff have to be fit enough to participate in some activities such as swimming, cycling, walking and housekeeping duties. Also some of our accredited mandatory training is physical as it covers management of aggression and self-injurious behaviours.

So if what the Kent Autistic Trust is about resonates with you, then wed love to meet you.
