OVERALL PURPOSE

The Functional Skills Coordinator will contribute towards the smooth running of our Functional Skills provision for our distance learners. This service is designed to enable learners across the UK to access Functional Skills provision and learn through our e-learning platform whilst being supported remotely. Through our Runway Direct brand we have expanded considerably and now service over 500 learners per annum.

This role will involve providing dedicated one to one support to help learners improve their English & maths skills. The right candidate will need to be comfortable on the phone and be able to build a good rapport with both individual and corporate clients.

The post holder will ensure frequent and effective communication with the Functional Skills team and possess strong organisation and administration skills. Monitoring and evaluating the services will be also part of this role as the right candidate will be responsible for shaping service delivery, building strong relationships with partners and maintaining Runway Training’s strong reputation.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. To provide support and information to potential learners.
2. To be a point of contact for individual learners, Runway partners and employers
3. To provide information, advice and support where relevant and necessary e.g. learner eligibility and course information, maths & English support and final examination arrangements.
4. To be the first point of contact for learner support and liaise with colleagues as appropriate
5. To effectively engage and support clients with their English & maths needs.
6. To ensure that all workflows and procedures are followed efficiently
7. To conduct regular meetings with the Functional Skills Team and other staff working on Functional Skills as appropriate
8. To ensure service learnersreceive a consistent service with personalised learning & support plans and are supported through to their final exam
9. To proactively contribute to team and organisational meetings and events
10. To participate in relevant meetings and feedback to the team
11. To be responsible for keeping accurate and up to date records, ensuring data protection and confidentiality policies are adhered to at all times.
12. To continuously review systems, processes and procedures and implement improvements efficiently and effectively
13. To monitor the recording of information and prepare reports where required, e.g. monthly reports, quarterly reports etc.

14. To be responsible for own professional development
15. To be involved in broader workings of the organisation (e.g. through involvement in working groups such as English standardisation meetings)

General
16. Undertake all duties in accordance with Runway Training’s policies and procedures with particular reference to Health & Safety and Equal Opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
1. Level 2 qualifications in English & maths or above

EXPERIENCE

4. Experience of assessment and IAG processes with learners
5. Experience of using CRM systems
6. Experience of working within the skills and training sector

SKILLS & ABILITIES

8. An ability to organise your own workload including the capacity to handle pressure and to be adaptable to changing or conflicting demands
9. The ability to guide and support colleagues working directly with learners
10. An ability to understand, implement and construct professional boundaries

12. Good English, maths & ICT skills.
13. Excellent IT skills (i.e. email, Word, Excel etc.)
