Kent Sport is looking for a dynamic Health, Fitness and Performance Manager to oversee the efficient & effective day to day running of the health, fitness and dance studio facilities at the University of Kent. With line management responsibility for the contracted Fitness Instructors, Strength & Conditioning Instructor, Studio Co-ordinator and a dynamic pool of casual timesheet staff, the role holder will have responsibility for the co-ordination of the team rota’s, timetables, appointment provision, day to day team management alongside regular performance review, recruitment, probation and appraisal.

The role will contribute positively to the department’s objective of engaging all students in physical activity by 2025 and will involve implementing a strategy to ensure the goal is met. Whilst increasing participation will be a key focus, performance will be equally important via involvement within the Sports Scholarship Programme that supports both Canterbury and Medway athletes with structured Strength and Conditioning, screening, welcome and celebration activities as well as referral for physiotherapy.

To be successful in this role you will have:

A degree or equivalent qualification/experience in health and fitness
Level 3 Health and Fitness and Group Exercise/Coaching qualifications
Experience of leadership and management within a health and fitness environment
Experience of equipment maintenance, health and safety and generic fitness risk assessment
Commitment to the promotion of higher education sport and of a positive student experience and a passion for physical activity and well being.
