This is great opportunity for a talented Platform/Infrastructure/Application Support Engineer to join a leading insurance group who have entered a large-scale digital transformation at their modern and very welcoming Reigate office.
They're currently implementing a major growth plan with significant investment being made in diversifying their products and propositions and associated platforms and applications.
You will be joining a growing Data & Platform Services team, supporting, building, expanding and enhancing their many different platforms across challenging transformational projects.
Main responsibilities:
* Maintaining availability and performance of critical underlying application infrastructures that support key business services
* Tuning of application infrastructure and working closely with Solution Delivery Areas to achieve maximum performance levels.
* Production Incident/Problem/Change assessment and resolution
* Supporting development and project teams in a DevOps environment.
* Defining and optimizing batch schedules and job execution
* Support of batch framework and tools in Prod and Non-prod environments
* Providing expertise within IT around Oracle coding and batch best practices.
* Enhancing automation, scripting and non-functional testing within the platform area.
* Providing out-of-hours support on a team rota basis.
What we are looking for:
* SQL and PLSQL experience.
* A sound and demonstrable experience related to at least one of the core application platform components - Oracle DBMS, Application Severs (Weblogic), Web Servers (Tomcat), Oracle UCM, IBM JRules, Cordys, IBM TWS, Networks (LAN & WAN)
* High level of competency with regard to support and change activity relating to application platforms and infrastructure.
* Good understanding of networks and hardware.
* UNIX shell scripting and ability to comfortably operate in a UNIX environment.
* Proficient in Linux.
* Experience working with Source control (Git) and within an ITIL framework.
* Knowledge of Remedy based incident ticketing system desirable.
* Proven experience of working within a DevOps culture with strong and effective collaboration skills. (JIRA/Kanban/Jenkins/Puppet/Continuous delivery)
* Strong and demonstrable problem-solving skills.
* Experience working with cloud platforms e.g. AWS
* Experience of Financial Services and the General Insurance industry in particular is preferable.
* IT Degree qualified or relevant experience.
