Improving the health and welfare of the Borough’s residents is an important role we take seriously. To help us achieve this aim we are looking for an enthusiastic and committed person to fill a Technical Officer post on an initial 12 month fixed term contract.
As part of a small team, you will assist in delivering grants to disabled persons to allow them to adapt their homes and live independantly and to provide loans to owners to bring their homes up to the decent home standard. You will be required to survey homes and prepare schedule of works and inspect works for quality control and compliance with current regulations. You will also provide technical support to our Staying Put Team.
You will have regularly contact with the public, and therefore you will need a strong customer focus with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing. Numeracy and good organisation and administration skills are essential, as is a sound knowledge of building construction and defects. You must have a full driving licence and the use of a car for which an allowance is provided.
Experience of multi-trade disciplines including supervisory experience and a building qualification such as City & Guilds, ONC, NVQ 3 or equivalent is essential.
For an informal chat contact Glyn Pritchard on 01795 417233.
Swale Borough Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, and expects all employee and volunteers to share this commitment.
